Wednesday: How to Read a Poem
Today we SIFT/SQUID the poem “Teacher” by Carol Ann Duffy. The result was a bunch of notes and what is, hopefully, a workable thesis to start a IOC.
Also, you met Ms. Macdonell today. She and I will be splitting the class for the poetry unit and we will continue to split you for the FOAs that need to start ASAP.

Friday: More Poetry
Today we split into Team Johnson and Team Macdonell to work on poetry in smaller groups.
Team Johnson– Covered “Head of English” and worked on crafting comparative thesis statements with “Teacher” and “Head of English”.
We also worked to start understanding the STYLE of CAD as a poet. We are starting to see some of the elements that are consistent across her poetry that makes her, her.
