Monday: Honest Chat

Today was likely a bit of a shock for many of you in terms of how prepared you are for the IB World Exams in English.  I hope that you all are able to digest this information and create a mindset that will allow you to game plan with me on Wednesday to best resolve this situation we find ourselves in together.

Assignment: Print out every assessment that you did last year and bring me a hard copy on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. 

Assignment: Find a copy of “The Stranger” and bring it with you to class for Friday.  Hint: Read some of it before Friday as well.  I’d go with the first part if I were you.

Wednesday: Class Norming

Today I introduced the clip board to you as well as EIC (English in the classroom) points.

We covered plagiarism and academic honesty.  You can find a link to the PP here.   You will have a quiz on this in near future, so keep this in mind for review.

Assignment: Get parent signature on plagiarism contract and return it on Friday, August 19, 2016.  

Assignment: Start reading “The Stranger” in preparation for class on Friday and so that this weekend is not all about reading this text. 

Friday: Introduction Presentations and “The Stranger”

Great presentations today, people.  I have a good idea of where our collective spoken competency is, and I can start planning from here.

We started working with “The Stranger” today.

Assignment: SG 1-4 completed before class on Tuesday, August 23.  SG 5-6 + Section 1 Chapter 1-2 will be due completed before class on Thursday, August 25.

Assignment: Read and annotate the text!
